Have Aerocool Gatewatch fan/temp monitor or Coolview case?

I recently bought an Aerocool Coolview case that has an integrated Gatewatch fan controller/temp monitor. Gatewatch software is used to set up the hardware, adjust fans, set alarm ranges, etc. via a USB connection.
. Almost immediately after I installed the software, it tried to phone home (or some web site called www.hinet.net which seems to be some sort of Chinese web portal) - detected and blocked by my Sygate firewall. I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with this activity of the software - what is it used for? Is it safe or should I let my firewall continue to block it? Documentation and support for this Gatewatch software are nigh on to nonexistent. I have a call in to someone at Aerocool who said he'd get back to me by email, but I'm not holding my breath...

I'll appreciate any insight you can provide.
