So I'm having inner turmoil... I bought a Nook tablet 16GB back in May. Ended up paying over $300; this is including taxes, $30 protective case, 16GB memory card. I did a lot of research before I finally decided. The new iPad had just been release for a little bit and it was getting some bad review on overheating, slow charging, short battery life, and other little odd in things, and I'm big on buying the newest of the new when I do buy something. (I'm not always upgrading, just like getting the newest when I do)
The size of the iPad was also something, that at the time, I thought was just a little bigger than a wanted. The Nook had android apps, and having an android phone I knew there were a lot of free apps and just a large choice of apps. Also at the time, I wanted something primarily for reading, but still be able to do other things: get on Facebook, surf the internet, play games, check email, etc. And the price was cheaper of course. At a little over $300, I got a 32GB tablet (this is including the memory card) with a really nice leather case. This is compared to the newest iPad 32 GB at $599, no case. So my smart thinking cap was on.
So when I finally purchased my Nook, I was more than a little disappointed in the lack of Apps and when I research that I realized it hardly had any, hardly any were free, and in fact most are rather pricy. They didn't even have a Facebook app! ***??? They are finally starting to get more apps which is great, but they are still kind of expensive for what you get, and still no official Facebook App... Anyhow, the reading aspect of the tablet is great. It's what I originally bought my Nook for.
Here's my dilemma: after playing around with someone's iPad 2 this past week, I really want one. The touch interface seems better than the nook (at least with game apps). The screen is bigger which make using certain apps more enjoyable -I like the puzzle apps. And I just feel that I could do more with it. But I don't know if I want to sell my Nook. I know I'd be lucky to get $200 for it, and I'm not really okay with taking much more of a loss on it, just to upgrade to a glorified version of it. I'm also a big deer hunter and the Nook with its size would be more convenient taking it to the deer stand, being able to slip it into my backpack if a deer sneaks up on me. Whereas the larger iPad would be rather cumbersome to handle in situation like that.
Also if I got an iPad I know my fiance wouldn't ever let me have it at night when I like to read. He always takes my touch screen phone or iPod touch and plays games (he likes taking my iPod when he hunts too). So would it be worth it just to keep my Nook and get an iPad? It seems a little excessive, and if I can get what I want out of my Nook I will sell it, but if I can't? -Just suck it up and deal with the decision I made? I kind of wish if anything that I would have just got the Nook Color, paid $100 less and then I wouldn't feel so bad about keeping it and getting a new iPad.
Also I'm considering on waiting until the newest iPad comes out, read somewhere on the net that maybe Spring 2013? -with hopefully all the current bugs fixed.
Just looking for opinions or thoughts. Considering how much the iPads are, I might just have to stick with what I bought but they are so tempting...
-Sorry I wrote so much...
