Feb 10, 2006 1:03PM PST

.... as part of my bi-monthly maintaince, i run a variety of tools to scan for viruses, malware, spyware, etc...i only enable cookies were needed and delete personal stuff and cache, etc...did it before but am more aware of potential threats...and avoid giving out personal info unless i have to like banking online and purchasing on secure sites....like on the road, be alert and carefull.
Check your oil and brakes once in awhile and if you can not do it yourself, have someone show you.... good luck..robk

Which spyware/adware program do I trust?
Feb 10, 2006 9:47PM PST

I have several antispyware/malware and 2 antivirus programs now and I still don't feel safe! I always feel my security could be better. I don't know who to trust anymore and each spyware program seems to not catch all spyware and I have to use another program, just to feel somewhat safe.

Online Behavior

Don't use Internet Explorer except to access secure site for work from home. Use Firefox for everything else. Run Ad-Aware, Spyware Search and Destroy, Spyware Blaster and, of course, a firewall (McAfee). Always have been extremely careful about downloads and never opened mail unless I knew the sender and, even then, don't open attachments that they forward.

From First Party to Third Party
Feb 11, 2006 12:05AM PST

Never download First Party stuff. They are junk (except service packs). Download GOOD third party stuff that are FREE for HOME use and are EXPENSIVE for COMERCIAL. Those are super great. I switched IE to firefox. I don't update IE. I never use IE. I only use IETAB for Active X.
