Has my Neighbor Hijacked my network

Mar 25, 2005 5:13AM PST

I hope someone can help me with this problem. This is actually the second time I'm postiing this the first time it did not go through. I recently converted to broadband cable connection and setup a wireless network but I have been having alot of problems . Most of the problems have been coming from the cable company, however now it seems that I might have someone else taking up my broadband connection. To make a long story short I ended up popping in the cd for DLink AirPlus Xtreme G 108Mbps 2.4GHz Wireless Router on my upstairs computer and put a netgear usb adapter on my downstairs computer. At that point everything was working fine for about two weeks. But today I noticed the settings are different. Before when I viewed my wireless network connection their was only one defualt connection now thier is a default connection and a main secured network connection which I did not set up or have access to. So how can I get this person off my network, secure it , and can this happen again. Thanks everyone in advance for helping me get my network back.

So did you secure your setup?

Even the simplest MAC FILTER option stops neighbors cold.

you may be seeing avaliable networks in your area I see 4 or 5 when I look at avaliable wireless networks on my computer but none are conected to my network. maybe you should secure your network to keep others out. it wont stop other networks from showing up as available on you set up.
