Has anyone used Fences software from Stardock?

Oct 27, 2009 3:23AM PDT

It sounds like something I could really use so I did download it to my desk top last week, then either got sidetracked or ran out of time so didn't get it installed. Then a cpl. days ago went to install it & discovered that I needed .NET 2.0 (which WAS NOT mentioned in the description of the program!), again didn't get it installed cuz I needed to see what NET was all about. Then today decided to read the review again just to refresh my memory,& find everyone writing about version 1, which didn't seem right so checked the "properties" of my download & found it to be version 0.95.00. Did I download the wrong thing or is it just that I'm so darn stupid about computer?!
Thank you.

Where did you download it from?

The web address would help, but only you can say which version you downloaded.

Download.com has Fences v 1.0, strange it doesn't say version 0.95.00 in the specifications, nor does it mention .Net.

Neither can I find anything in Stardock - Fences web site about either the version # or whether .net is required. But I do see that something called Impulse is required to download and update Fences.

I don't like that idea very much, and yet Download.com's reviews on Fences seem mainly approving.

I see a link in the Stardock site to their forums. You may find out more there.

No, you are not "...stupid about computer..." Stardock is simply a Bully! It's like trying to remove chewing gum from underfoot.

And Yes, I did install Stardock Fences and Boy! am I sorry...First, the app takes up a sweet 4 GB of storage; second, I could and did uninstall 'Fences' BUT third, I cannot uninstall Stardock Impulse for love nor money. Even though the programme turns up in Programs and Features but still will not uninstall.

I did notice that its IP Address is 127.0.0.1 I think I need an IP Pro to help

anyway cheers and good luck
