General discussion

Has anyone tried the new Firefox 2.0.0.1 Browser?

Feb 21, 2007 9:39AM PST

Currently I am using Firefox 1.5.0.9 and it works just fine. I want to upgrade to Firefox 2.0 because it has several new features I want to try.

My question is, has anyone tried the Firefox 2.0, and if so how has it been?

Thank you very much for your time, CHUSITO 1975

Definitely time to upgrade

Firefox 2.0 has been out for months now, and I'd highly recommend upgrading seeing at it also has many security fixes. I especially like the built-in session saver feature.

I've used FF since it first came out; both on a PC and now on a Mac. It's the perfectly 'adjustable' browser. Trusting anything online is dodgy of course, but I've done every upgrade of theirs and found them to be seemless in all ways. The newest version, 2.0.2 should be out soon; try it, you can't regret it. Also, read their forum, and check out the themes and extensions; that's where they zoom all other browsers.

Thank you for the replies. I forgot to say that I am a Mac user and only would like replies from Mac users on this topic.

Hi, I am also a Mac User and I have tried, fruitlessly, to instal Firefox 2.0. Each time I download it - at least 15 times so far - it downloads but when I start up my computer again I find it has rgressed to Firefox 1.5
I too would be grateful for any help with this

Go For FF!

FF 2.0 is actually behind the hood, but is definitely worth it for bug fixes.... Session saver is cool, hoever i use Tab Mix Plus and prefer it.. Also when you install it, it will check your addons for compatibility, so make sure your addons are fully compatible.

If you are having problems with it reverting to 1.5, wipe clean everything from firefox (try use uApp). Then, redownload 2.0... see if it helps..

Just wondering if you're following the usual download steps? Do the download, open the dmg. offered afterwards, that starts it, then drag the FF icon to your applications, that 'mounts' it to your computer. Click on the icon in applications to open it, should be there. Then you can drag the icon from apps. to your dock, and open it from there. Do you do these steps before doing a shutdown or restart? Good luck - The FF forums also are great, giving a good knowledge base and archives with 'stickies' for common questions.

Many thanks.
Your advice was spot on and I now can use FF as it should be used.
Cheers, Rafiki.
