General discussion

Has anyone seen this movie?

Jul 13, 2007 8:15PM PDT
Christiane F? I saw it many years ago (in German with subs) and it is a very good movie. Now I would like to have it on either DVD or VHS, but apparently it doesn't exist with subtitles for some reason. Plus, it's been cut a little here and there in the US version...
If anyone knows where it can be found in its original language with subs (and NTSC of course), I'd appreciate it!

Region 1 and NTSC is what I need.

In any case, thank you JP!

I've been "all over" the net and still haven't found it.

I might as well try with "Evergreen Video" @ Carmine Street. They have plenty of movies and especially idependent stuff. However, I wanted to buy it!

been threatening to get dvd for a couple of years, just waiting for vcr to break.

If a person wanted a dvd from another region or format it seems like it is not much of a problem

What about a DVD/VCR combo?
Jul 14, 2007 4:21AM PDT

I've seen them in the US for less than $80.00. Course, I don't know about the exchange rate and taxes where your at. Could be all the difference. Do you use 110 voltage there? I could send you one.

$80?? sheesh!

FYI... about PAL
Jul 14, 2007 4:14AM PDT

I don't know if this is still true today but a few years ago, when I still sold consumer electronics here in the US, many LCD TV's could be switched from NTSC to PAL. Also, many cheaper DVD players can be switched to output PAL in their menu as well. I saw many DVD players brought in because they were "broke" when the reality was someone kicked the player into PAL mode which has a different frame rate than NTSC.

Nether of these facts, if still true, will help Terry with the World DVD Region codes however.

friends with a daughter in the US actually brought a TV back from the states so they could watch NTSC videos of the family (on the other hand, the family in the US could watch PAL tapes with no problem)
