HARDWARE USB modem

May 24, 2007 10:04PM PDT

This might be the wrong forum for this but I'd like to find a "HARDWARE" USB modem for use on either PC or MAC laptop. I find the builtin versions (Winmodem type) are terrible. Probably need AC powered version also.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
RON C

Bob,

Thanks. I will have to bring back some old brain cells I bet. Com port and IRQ or does XP handle it for me?

Need to get dongle and I have an old 52k serial beast in the closet.

XP just does that automagically unless...

You need it to emulate COM1. Some Space Shuttle era software would need that, but very little else.

Thanks. Will get cable on Tuesday.

You're always very helpful.
