Question

Hardware Malfunction Issue

Oct 29, 2011 1:04AM PDT

Every once in a while I will be working happily away or playing on my home PC and the computer will just stop and a blue screen with this message appears:

Hardware Malfunction

NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
***The System Has Halted***

I have a Dell XPS 710 gaming system bought in 2008........I have no idea why this happens. I just hard reboot it when it happens and it goes away for a couple weeks....then comes back for no particular reason. HELP!!

I clean it constantly by blowing and wiping down to keep the dust at a minimum...even inside once every three months

While I usually don't do this until 5 years, it may be time.

To replace the heat sink compound. While I'm in there I check the heat sinks are on proper and the fans are working.
