Question

Hardware issues/shutting down

Apr 8, 2015 12:40AM PDT

I built my own pc. My motherboard is Gigabyte G1.Sniper A88X and my processor is AMD APU A10 6800K Black Edition Quad Core.
These are both fairly new (a month or so).
The PC was working until a couple of days ago. I closed it down but it didn't actually go off. I held down the boot up button and nothing happened. I switched it off at the wall and of course it then went off. I then switched it back on at the wall and it turned itself on, so the fans are on and the lights are on, but it's not booting up. I thought it might be a problem with the power supply, so I bought a new one, and as soon as I switched it on at the wall, the fans started as did the lights, but no boot up. No idea what to do. Any help much appreciated!

If your bios screen comes up insert system install disk if it boots up. If it doesn't you have to replace your motherboard

Thanks. It must be the motherboard. The screen is blank.

Do You See Anything On The Screen When It Starts?
Apr 8, 2015 3:07AM PDT

Does it POST? Do you see the basic BIOS display when it first starts? If the basic BIOS elements come up, does it then simply fail to continue booting? Have you tried re-seating the cables to the hard drive, re-seating RAM, etc.? Although you said the "PC was working", what software did you have installed? The operating system? All the drivers? More? Less?

Hope this helps and let us know more..

Re: what I see on screen

Thanks for your reply.

I don't see anything. All that seems to happen is the fans go on and the pc lights up. Nothing on the screen.
I had Windows, 7 MS Office, some drivers.

I think it's the motherboard, which is annoying because it's brand new.
Thanks!
