hardware information database

Oct 30, 2004 5:53PM PDT

I have windows me dell dimension 3100. I am trying to install kodak digital camera software but when it gets to a certain point a box comes up that says "please wait while windows updates the hardware information." Everything freezes and does not continue with the installation. Have to restart computer.

Are you trying to install the software while the camera is actually hooked up to the computer? If so, unplug the camera, reboot, install the software clean, reboot, and then plug in the camera.

You Guys ROCK!

I've been ripping my hair out trying to resolve a hardware conflict in WinME when it actually was 40,000+ OEM*.inf and 9,000+ *.CPY files left over from when these users had Norton System Works installed.

Thanks heaps!!

Leticia---

I have the exact same problem. Dell Demension 8100; Windows ME and was updating my Kodak Shareware from 1.0 to 4.0 on there web site when the Msg. pops up "Updating Hardware Info. Database" and everything locks up and even the mouse quits working and I can't close down the computer.

I have been on the phone with Kodak for hours and tried EVERYTHING and still as soon as I connect the camera dock get the same msg/problem.

Have you resolved the prob yet??? Thanks for any help.
