Question

Harddrive lag

Nov 15, 2016 11:59PM PST

I have two harddrives in my desktop. My second harddrive (FHappy seems to lag sometimes. Ocassionaly, when I try to open my F drive, my computer will lag (I can still move my mouse), and I'll hear my harddrive spinning really fast for 3-5 seconds and then the folder will open. This lag sometimes also happens when I'm working in a software which uses some files in the harddrive.

Is it going to sleep? Is it faulty? I don't know! Please help!

Set your power plan option to high perf.
Go through each option in the plan and set it to never or always on.
Test.

Next run a pass of chkdsk ...scan for bad sectors/full scan.
Read the chkdsk log....use google.
