Harddrive died

My Dell XPS 10yr old HD died, every thing else working fine. Is this worth repairing. Dell tech told me HardDrive replacement not available anymore. What are my choices

the Dell, you'd really be better off putting the money toward a new system.

Do It Yourself.

Any old drive should do, but I can't tell if you know enough yet. My bet is it takes a PATA drive and don't go crazy on size.

But then did you have a backup of the drive to restore from?
Do you have restore media?
Do you know how to restore?
Would you be open to making it come back with Linux?
