"The two drives were working with no problems prior to my re-installation."
Many forget motherboard and more drivers. To make matters worse I find people try to repair the drives before I get a chance to install the drivers.
Sorry I can't help further but you left out details about the machine.
Bob
I have just reinstalled Win2kpro and for some reason 2 of my four hard drives are not recognised, at least in 'My Computer'. I have just had my power supply fold on me so I bought a new one. I am sure the power supply failure was due to all the switching on and off due to trying different jumpers and connectors. Is there some method of determining whether a HD has failed? The two drives were working with no problems prior to my re-installation. Would be grateful if someone could help.
The drives are as follows.
5 and 12 gig Quantum Fireballs (both working)
40 gig Maxtor and 80 gig Seagate. (both not working)
Op sys Windows 2000 pro.
450 watt ATX Power supply
256meg ram.
