Hard drive shuts down

Feb 19, 2004 1:06AM PST

My windows xp will not load the log on screen. It starts up and goes to a screen that gives me the option of last known good config, safe mode, start normally etc.. when one of these items are selected it goes to the windows xp logo and then restarts. I have tried to start the recovery console but when windows setup starts loading files from the cd the system shuts down completly. I have even tried to reinstall windows xp and when the cd goes to the blue setup screen it begins loading the setup drivers about half way thru it shuts down. (PLEASE HELP) I can put another HDD in and the system runs fine. this tells me the board is ok.

When you start a new post, the history is now elsewhere.

Try to keep it together.
