Hard drive help

I reintstalled my operating system on my laptop, that laptop hdd was partitioned into 52gb(C drive) and 4gb(e drive). It would'nt let me install the os onto the 52gb partition so i installed in on the 4gb. It worked but now when i click my computer it does not see the 52gb(C drive) partition. Also when i look under device manager/disk drives/hdd under the volumes tab it see's the 52gb but does not have a letter which was C before. But the 4gb shows up with the E labeled.

Laptop make?

Laptop model?

What OS?

Reinstalled why?

Did you format either drive?

So many questions unanswered.

the os onto the 52gb partition so i installed in on the 4gb"

What do you mean by "would'nt let me"? Was it slapping your fingers to prevent your selecting the partition or something on that order?

Tell us what it was doing or "refusing" to do and how you recognized that "refusal".

Here is a handy link for installing various Microsoft Operating Systems and if none apply do tell us the OS you prefer and we can dig up specific instructions (you didn't mention the OS you attempted to install). The Operating Systems are listed down the right side so you can click on the one you want to install as the link will take you to a list of types of installations you might be attempting (Windows for Workgroups isn't listed but the Windows 3.1 link would steer you right).
