Hard Drive (HDD) Camcorders with Firewire / IEE1394 / i.Link

Feb 21, 2006 8:48PM PST

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a HDD Camcorder but can't find one with a Firewire connection on it. Are there any available? I don't want to go down the slow USB route...

Thanks for you time,

Jon.

In the case of hard disk camcorders...

The camcorder looked just like a hard disk with files. The transfer rate is a non-issue at USB 2.0 speeds.

I beg to differ

USB 2 transfer rate for transferring video from Camcorders is known as being slower than Firewire. Even if it's USB 2.0 it can't compare with Firewire because it is so Processor intensive.

There must be a cam out there somewhere!!

I use a JVC Everio GZ-MC100. The microdrive is removable and it will work with any USB or Firewire card reader. Technically it's not exactly what he is looking for but it is a way to shoot with a HDD based camera and transfer content to his computer via Firewire.
