Hard drive fullbut can't find the stuff?

May 23, 2011 12:08AM PDT

Hi,
my iBook has a 40gb hd so i tried to install a later operating system but find i only have 2gb free-space .
I tried deleting all the files, then the software that i didn't use and
the same deal
hard drive nearly full but nothing to be seen that would be taking up
all the space?
No music , videos , pics .

Where is the stuff that occupies all the HD space?

cheers
Laura.

Hard drive full?

Hi,
no i didn't drag the stuff, just clicked on the files ans sent them to the trash.
Some i removed from the applications folder and chased around in the back to delete what i could to get more space.
However the hd is indicated that it is almost full.
iBook ex-school but i can't find any students files still left on the ibook.

This may seem like a silly question, but,

iBook?

Yes , emptied the trash.

Can you now see why it is puzzling to me?
The hd is virtually full and i can't see the files.

I am waiting for OS 10.4.11 install discs to arrive in the mail , so then would just do a clean install.

But it does make me wonder why the HD is full?
