All IDE drives are "ATA compatible" since it's just an extension on EIDE which increases burst transfer rates. All ATA drives are fully backwards compatible with EIDE controllers, and all EIDE drives are more or less fully backwards compatible with IDE controllers (they just might not be able to "see" the full capacity of the drive).
I have a seagate barracuda 7200 80 gig HD and a western digital 60 gig hard drive. I want the seagate as the master and the Wd as slave. My options for the segate are
1. master or single
2. slave
3. Master with non ATA compatible slave
4. cable select
5. alternate capacity - 32 gig
should i use number 3 or 4? is my WD HD ATA compatible?
Thank you
