Hard drive camera quality

i need a new camera with good quality a have been looking at and want a hard drive camera. do the hard drive cameras have good quality?

sufficient time span on a small hard drive. A Canon XL2, for one, can dump DV to a hard drive, but a relatively large, fast drive is needed.
