I run Windows XP Home....AMD 800...320Mb Ramm
I want to transfer my Hard Drive WD 40Gb to another puter....Intel 1.4 with 512Mb Ramm...only has 15 Gb Hd
Do I have to format my hard drive for the switch or will the new chip pick it up with no problems..thank you

Windows never has moved to new hardware with any certainty. The bottom line is simple.

-> You have a backup of the files you can't lose.

Given that, you can move the drive and see if it works or if it fails try the REPAIR INSTALL.

-> In closing, Windows rarely finds all the drivers on its own. I guess that's what we are kept around for.
