Hard disk Thrashing

by jayesh / August 16, 2004 7:05 AM PDT

Hi, I have a Compaq NC6000, 512M, 60Gb HDD with XP/Pro and have turned off indexing and compression but have noticed that my hard-disk is continuously busy. The task manager shows no active tasks and the CPU usage is very low 2-3% so what is going on with my hard-disk. The busy sound and continuos flickering of LED of the hard-disk is discomforting not knowing what is going on. Any suggestions appreciated.

Have you checked for viruses, spyware and other parasites?

Do you by any chance have a firewall (such as Zone Alarm or Sygate) and Norton Anti virus installed?
