Security software (be it Windows Defender or any other) doesn't help in case of a corrupt disk. In fact, I don't even expect Windows Defender to make statements about disks.
And what is that support number? The one that's mentioned in your user manual or the one you found via http://support.hp.com ?
Or maybe it's it one of those scams that are spammed so often? Never call those!
My Hp laptop just froze and a Windows Defender alert stated the hard disk may be corrupt. I called the support number to be told I'd have to buy security software online to remedy it. Does Windows Defender not secure my system ? Can anyone advise me ?
