HARD DISK

i have 80 gb hd but it shows 74.4

Different definitions of GB...

In short, it's an issue of the hardware manufacturer defining 1GB as 10^9 (1,000,000,000 bytes) while the software manufacturer defines 1GB as 2^30 (1,073,741,824 bytes). Thus, you could say the two are telling you the same answer, just in different measuring terms.
