Happy Thanksgiving!!

Many of you frequent these forums for information, updates, and to see what the buzz is with "All things Samsung".

So as kind of an added benefit, I wanted to note some of our new releases. I'm anticipating that some of you are already scanning ads and wondering to yourselves, "What are these new models"? I've had them placed on the website for your convenience, if you'd like to check and compare the spec sheets.

So there you are. If you have any questions, feel free to discuss amongst yourselves. I will try to answer "What are the differences between "xxxxx" model and "xxxxx" model" as they come, but I'd also prefer that you scan the specs yourself first, and then ask questions so I can answer "the harder" questions. I'm anticipating a lot of questions, and I'd appreciate forum members jumping in and helping each other out. We also have a great comparison chart set up on our website so you can click and compare the specs of up to three models at a time. Click on the below links, check the box of the televisions you'd like to compare, and then hit the "compare" button at the top.

On behalf of myself, Mr. Samsung, and the entire Samsung Team here at C|Net, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and a joy-filled Holiday Season.

Help w/ Samsung PN42A400
Dec 17, 2008 3:33AM PST

Tks for showing the PN42A400 info. just bought one yesterday.

The TV reception is fine w/ Cable Box, but I'm having trouble w/ DVD picture. I continue to get a blue tint instead of full color even after trying various connection setups using Audio/Component cables. (I've made sure the red Pr cable is properly connected and working.)
I have an older (2005) Philips DVD-642 DVD.

Also, when using the remote and hitting Menu', when I scroll down, the 'Channels' feature does not highlight and is skipped.

Lastly and leastly, I'm wondering why Samsung didn't include an S-Video connection, have they become passe?
Tks in advance for your advice.

lesdhutch,

The blue tint is probably due to the output on your DVD player. You might want to see if changing the resolution and making sure the output is set to COMPONENT on the DVD player; that may fix the issue.

Also, make sure you haven't set the Blue Mode Only. If you have, follow these steps to make sure Blue Only mode is OFF.

Menu > Picture > Blue Only Mode > Off

That feature is for calibrations only, just for an explanation. Happy

The Channels feature is not highlighted because you're using a cable box, and not the television's tuner. Therefore, you would be using the channel feature in the cable box.

As far as S-video connections, it's not that they're passe so much, as several of our other units do have S-video, but that the PN40A400 was a special piece for a limited time.

I hope that answers your questions. If you have more, please let me know. We're here to help.
