I can't tell if you tried to find this.

I can't find a driver for my m500 Palm or my visor so that they will work with vista home premium. Any help appreciated.

I've tried everything I can find. This is a problem that I have encountered before. The web site says that the app will work with vista but I can't make it hot sync. My visor is relatively old as is my M500. They both preceded Vista as far as I know. There might be a fix somewhere but I haven't been able to locate it yet. I try it every once in a while, but no luck so far. Thanks for the response Bob.
I use the Palm serial cable and one of those USB to serial adapters. It does work.
Sorry I don't have a visor in the collection.
I thought they noted USB Sync was dead.
Bob
can I get USB serial adaptor? Or what is it, I may already have one but the only hookup is a cable from my m500 to the pc usb.
I use the USB to serial from ... www.serialio.com. I bet you can find that on amazon.com. It's pretty cheap and to answer why I use that one, it has drivers from 2000 to Windows 7 both 32 and 64 bit.
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-PALM-M500-CABLE-F3X1082-03/dp/B00006BBAJ has the serial cable for 8.59
The USB to serial was 15 or so bucks.
Wish I could be clearer.
Bob (yes, I wrote PalmOS apps)
looks like the Belkin. It's a ziplinq retractable that came with the m500. Is the other one any better??
The one I'm using, the m500 seems to work ok but keeps poping up a message:"HOT SYNC Problem" The connection between your handheld and the desktop couldn't be established." Please check your setup and try again.
I get the same message for the visor pretty much. It just won't hot sync, but the calculator etc works great.
Both ways? I would never expect the USB to work and all I can offer is that serial port hotsync does work fine. But I find that today this is too hard for folk to configure as we have so many settings to set both on the PC with hotsync as well as the PDA's hotsync to serial.
Bob
1. All installed per the link.
2. (PC) Hotsync set to COM1 or whichever serial port is the real serial port.
3. BAUD RATE SET TO ????
4. On the PDA. Hotsync is set to serial.
5. Try auto or other speeds to match what you set on the PC.
You can do this.
Bob
as I can tell Bob, I have it set up as you suggest but I'm not any further along than I was yesterday. (I think) Which link are you referring to in item 1 above??
I've set this up far too many times due to me writing PalmOS apps for years.
Since I've gone over the usual and typed it all in above, now it's your turn to tell me about your settings on PC and PDA. I read above you tried it on USB or such but why would we do that with a serial connection?
Bob
I have the new charging/hot sync cable. No difference in ability to hot sync. I even tried it on my old xp machine. Any more ideas ?????
I've tried it on usb, I've tried it with the new serial connector. I've downloaded and tried new palm os.
The hand held works great, the pc works great. I just can't seem to hit the right combo to hot sync.
There is no driver for that. So neither hotsync on the PC or the PDA should be set to USB.
I dropped a hint I need to know the serial port settings and hotsync selections you used but can't find it.
All I can do is share it works. It is possible the m500 serial port is fried. But we have a test from that.
Read http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/1409_en.html again and share more details.

Bob, you da man. The visor is working very well, thru a usb port. I have a new motherboard in this system and I can't seem to find a serial port on it. The m500 not so good. I still get the "can't connect" message tor the m500. Care to share the test for the serial port on that.
