Halo Effect on LN52A750

Jun 20, 2008 2:27PM PDT

Mr. Samsung:

I recently purchased the 52" 7 Series, and the picture is fantastic. My issue though is with the picture bleeding into the bezeled edges on all sides of the tv. I have read other posting of others having this problem, so I know I am not the only one experiencing it.

I chatted online today with a rep from the Samsung website, and he told me that the picture should not be bleeding into the bezel (clarification: ultra clear panel). He told me to exchange the tv (purchased from BB).

What is your take on this issue. I love the tv, but I don't think I can live with this issue, and I don't want to go through all of the trouble to exchange it, only to have the replacement have the same issue.

Samsung may have fixed it...

In other forums there are some reports that Samsung says it has fixed this in its newest builds of the 750s. Several people have confirmed this while others felt it was still there. So YMMV.

The ones who confirmed it all had sets built in or after September 2008.

It is still hit or miss with Halo effecton this 750 series .

Doesn't matter which size yu purchase or what production date yu have , the 750 series has exhibited this flaw. More prominently on the prior Sept builds.

BTW, some owners won't notice that it is there. But it is. Depending on how yu calibrate or adjust your back lighting as well as how dark your viewing room is will determine if yu can see it. It IS a real problem though.

Halo...

The light would be reflecting from the inside of the bezel to the outside of the bezel if you have it.

If it's an issue, we'll fix it under warranty. Not all units are affected.

Is there any way to tell when buying if it's going to be one of these units? Date, sku#, etc? Is this supposed to be fixed on newly made units?

Not difinitely.....

There is no sound way of knowing; however, Samsung has made a considerable effort to fix the issue at the factory.

There's nothing on the packaging that would note that.

Considerable effort at the Factory??? Maybe!

Samsung has not made enough considerable effort to track this "New Frame" and get it channeled back to the dissatisfied customer.

Design Flawed Frames have obviously NOT been pulled from inventory and are finding thier way back to us 750 owners. Sad

Techs are wasting our time. They are making money in any event.

Hard to tell

If viewing in the stores amongst 50 or more other Flat panels yu can't tell. It is too bright in the stores to see this Halo effect.

Halo effect 750 's special deals

It is interesting to note that Samsung has allowed retailers to lower pricing on this Halo ridden model so Samsung could get rid of the inventory and move on with the 850, 860, and 950 series.

Ironically the 750 series is actually the better Flat panel "picture wise" than these others. Even the 950 LED lighted TV has picture issues...with the first released models.
