Onboard sound is too finicky to give anyone any assurance it will work. I've seen the smallest change kill the onboard sound. The only cure I use that gets the machine out of the rut is another sound card. My three choices are...
1. Any non-Aureal based PCI sound card (runs about 10 bucks.)
2. A Turtle Beach sound card (sidesteps Via/other chipset issues.)
3. A SB Audigy card.

with it. It is not with the action. For instance, if I play a game online, there is a one or two second delay in the sound after whatever action I take and it is very strange. I took the computer to a repair shop after I had accidentally somehow removed the sound. The repairman said he installed SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio. When I realized the sound wasn't matching up with the action taken, I called him and he said it didn't have anything to do with what he did. I can't believe that, because it wasn't doing it before he fixed it. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Elaine
