Look up MALWAREBYTES and use they free scan and removal. Now fix your Task Manager but first, remember your an administrator, not God. All accounts must obey rights, permissions and more. The common fixes for that task manager I use is at http://188.8.131.52/search?q=cache:PZup896Srk8J:www.tomshardware.com/forum/138434-45-task-manager+task+manager+kellys&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=6&gl=us
Hi there. I'm running Windows XP Home edition SP2 on my Packard Bell laptop. A few days ago I got hit with a few viruses (trojans, spybots etc) and naturally ran a few virus scanners and removed them (AVG and Windows One Care). All wnt well and I restarted my computer. It appeared to load just fine but my desltop background was not showing. I only had a few desktop icons for itunes and firefox etc. I clicked on the start menu and again it only has a few programmes listed but no 'my computer', 'documents' or control panel so I can't do anything at all. My files are still on the somputer somewhere as I can still play my music in itunes but I can't access anything at all.
I ca't access task manager either, it's greyed out. I am the only user on the somputer and did have full administrator rights. I'm hoping I don't have torestore as I have nothing backed up.
Any help would be great,
