Hello all and Thank you in advance.

I have Nortons 2004 anti virus that is detecting HACKTOOL.KEYGEN.151552
1)KEYGEN.EXE
2)NORTON.ANTIVIRUS.2004.PRO.KEYGEN

These two viruses will not delete off of my system.

I have tried over 6 times including in safe mode.

I have also run 3 different adware/spyware removers.

Will someone please help me rid my system of these annoying pest.

The action with Nortons is that there are two risks and I should delete.

I hit delite and it goes to the next screen showing that no action was taken and there are still 2 potential targets.

Panda will not download and housecall shows no viruses after a 30,000 scan.

Thanks,???

Make sure the offending files is not in use or running. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the Task Manager. End the task of keygen.exe or instances of that Hacktool.Keygen that NAV detected. Try to delete again.

If no luck, download MoveOnBoot (its freeware from http://www.gibinsoft.net/
Install it. Open MoveonBoot, click Next, browse the location/path of the file you want to delete. Click Next. Select delete. Click Start. Reboot when done. See if it works.

Or use Power Killbox (no installation needed)
from http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip
Unzip and start the application
Put the path/location of the file you want to delete in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box.
Click "Delete on Reboot"
Click the red button with X
Click Yes.
Reboot.

Note: Use any of the tools at your own risk.

I figured it out-Read below.
by diverdan007 / September 27, 2004 4:56 AM PDT

I went into my search mode with XP.

Typed in keygen

Right clicked on my files one by one and scanned with Norton.

Found the 2 files that were indicating a virus.

Deleted them.

Went to the trash Deleted them...

Ran virus check-POOFF GONE!

Turning off system restore was my next choice but I did not want to lose my restore points yet. Thanks

Thanks all, keep up the good work...

Dan

Communicable, you must have done some searching to find this thread that you replied to because it's 2 months old LOL. Anyway, follow the threads that do what Donna told the original poster to do and let us know how you make out.

Hacktool.Keygen.151552 is not actually a virus or threat. the original poster has NAV2004 installed on their PC. This executable is a serial number generator and product activator for his or her pirated version of norton antivirus!! in the options section you can turn off scanning for this.
