hacker.....? what....? who are you...?

Nov 18, 2005 12:35AM PST

The craziest thing happened to me the other day! I was just typing something in word and stopped to drink something and words started appearing on the screen! They didn't make sense (no real order) but they were real words! I got knida scared because I had no idea what was going on.

So I thought "maybe it is some kind of hacker or something messing with my system." So I typed something along the lines of "Who are you" and some other stuff. The typing continued after I was done. Hmmmm... interesting eh?

I of course don't know if it is actually possible for a hacker to do that if they get into your system via internet so I was freaking out....

Then I saw that the microphone was switched on and that speech recognition was on!! I kicked myself for about an hour after that! Anyone else had something crazy like that?

hilarious!

that's so funny.

i did something even more rediculous one day. i was typing, and suddenly nothing was working right. it wouldn't type the right way, things were happening that i didn't understand... i don't even remember. but i finally figured out that my keyboard had become slightly lodged underneathe my desk (at the time, i had one of those keyboard platforms that is attached to the underside of the desk for ergonomic reasons) and it was hitting all of the F keys. DOH.

like 6/7 years ago I didn't know about the insert key and what it did. It made for several annoying times when for some reason I wanted to correct something it overwrote it! I had no idea what was going on and then I learnt about the insert key from a friend.
D'oh!

ps thanks for your reply!

At my last job...

I got called in to fix somebody's computer once because their mouse cursor looked weird and wouldn't funtion properly (this was on an OS 9 machine, BTW). I couldn't answer it over the phone (I got a bad description). It took me all of 2 seconds to figure out that a binder was sitting on the left Control key.
One of my funnier problems to fix.

You think you can trust your friends

But you'd be wrong! One of my friends send me a trojan that lets you interact with the person's computer. At the time we were both up late writing a paper for class. So everytime I wrote something it would be deleted slowly. It took me all of 5 seconds to realize it was him. So I started calling him all sorts of things in the middle of my paper. To which he responded in kind. After a bit of back and forth I went ahead and removed the trojan.

Needless to say, I don't trust my friends anymore.

Of the Martin Sargent prank where you replace someones desktop with a ascreen capture of their desktop. It looks like all the icons are there but none of them work.
