I'd guess you clicked on "Add New Discussion" instead of "Reply to Message". You wouldn't be the first person to do this!

You are right Cindi. It said "No further replies to this post will be accepted" The only button there, was "Add New Discussion" which I clicked on.

I've been to Fenway and didn't have a hot dog but I did have a sausage, which was quite good. I don't think I would have the courage to try chili at Yankee Stadium, and besides, at those prices I'd probably have to take out a small loan.

There's a trick to getting around the "no further replies...." message. Go to your browser's Address window and in the URL, change "5208" to "5224" and hit ENTER. You'll be able to reply to the message.

Glad to help. The tip was given to me by another member and I'm happy to pass it on.

If the unthinkable happens (ROFL), I'll buy.

at the top of the page you'll see http://reviews etc etc 5208-6130-0 etc etc.

When you see "No further replies to this post will be accepted", change the 5208 to 5224, that is

5208-6130-0

to read

5224-6130-0

and press enter.

You will get a response frame.

Re: Hot Dogs..
Feb 4, 2004 5:17AM PST

My wife bought some New York Deli hot dogs from the store a couple weeks ago and they were very good, much better than we get around here in SW Texas. I understand the best hot dogs come from the heart of NY City. Any recommendations on brand names I should look for. I like Hot Dogs with a little pork along with whatever is in them.

A little over a year ago a Discovery TV channel devoted a whole hour on Hot Dogs and showed different places in different states, mostly in the NorthEast, where the best Hot Dogs are sold. Wish they would show it again for me to tape.

I saw that show! One of the places featured was called Rutt's Hut, in Clifton, NJ. We ate there once. The hot dogs were out of this world. They deep-fry them!

I know you said you like hot dogs with pork in them, but Hebrew National makes great Kosher hot dogs.

I recall that the program showed a place that deep fried them, thanks for the link, gonna try frying.

We also like Kosher food and will try the Hebrew National.

Hebrew National ...

... makes a 1/4 lb "Dinner Frank". If you have Costco's down there, they sell them for like $1.50 at the Costco's up here!

Yummy and DEFINITELY the best dog you can buy at the market.

Thanks, we have a 'Costco' warehouse, never visited. On internet it doesn't list food as one of their products? Anyway we do have some large grocers that surely stock Hebrew National. Will try the ? hot dog (frank) & Salami DaveK mentioned, as well as the Boar's Head beef Salami you suggested.

Costco's website....

...only lists those items that can be purchased on the Internet, hence no food. There should be plenty of hotdogs at the warehouse though.

In the front of most Costco's they have a snack bar ...

... and they also sell them in the stores I've been in. In fact, in the regular grocery, there are regular franks (great for franks and beans), beef knockwurst, and dinner franks that are bigger still (may be in my mind but these are a little less salty so I prefer them for eating without the bun). The ones at Costco are the diameter of the dinner franks but longer still. The price at the snack bar is great! And you don't really need a Costco membership to buy food there. Enjoy Happy

Forgot to add re: salami

I like to eat that in the "beefstick" form. Hebrew National has three varieties I think -- regular, reduced fat, and lean beef. Somewhat surprisingly, I find the texture of the HN to be a bit grizzley but would agree with DK as to the taste. The lean beef one has the best texture. It's next to impossible to find the Boar's Head SadSad but it does have a better texture and a very good taste.

Hi, John.

Hebrew National also makes about the best Salami around -- but oy! The fat content!

Hi Dave,

Boar's Head beef salami (if ya can find it in the stick!) is THE best by far. Leaner than even the lean beef version of HN, but oh sooooooo tasty.
