Question

H P Printer problem

by arkie77 / May 27, 2015 1:57 PM PDT

I have an H P Officejet J6480. This problem has, just, shown up in the last 3 months. After I print several copies, I get a message telling me to "align page, load plain white paper then press OK to start alignment." After I do this, the alignment starts and goes for a bit but never finishes and I get a message telling me it couldn't complete. Why is this happening? What can I do? It's wasting my ink and paper.

Thanks for the help

Nowadays printers are so cheap that it's cheaper to buy a new one than have it repaired, unless it happens to be still in warranty.

Printer issue(s)

The first thing to try would be to see if there are software updates for that unit, at HP Drivers and support. If there are no updates for that unit germane to your OS, I'd suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the software, assuming you have the original load disk or do the download from drivers and support. Many times this type of issue can be software related, not to say it might not be a defective printer but..first things first.

Long ago I had a printer that would lock up after working a bit. While I did get out the canned air to clean it of paper dust and such it did help and I got another year out the printer before it failed altogether. I find many consumers simply use things and rarely do the maintenance. A very high percentage ask "what is canned air?"

do they have an optical eye?

I've wondered on that alignment thing, how they do it.

My prior HP had a scanner.

It did a cool trick. It would print a page that you placed on the scanner for it to do the calibration.
