Gun control

Oct 4, 2017 6:46PM PDT

Some folks think they should be able to have any gun they want.
Other folks think there should be no guns.

I'll take the middle ground.
I don't have a problem with people owning guns but there has to be a limit on what guns are available to the public.

I'm thinking of a base level federal rule that will apply to all states.
States can add to it but can not subtract from it.

I doubt that would fly very well with the pols as the NRA funds their reelection.

I've used an AR-15 multiple times in the past.
I can't think of a good reason why someone in the public needs a 20 shot magazine or needs to modify it to go full auto.

Laws

You won't stop these people with laws.
You won't control the black market in guns with laws.
All we can do is regulate the legal market.
In some places you can walk into a gun shop and buy an AR-15 with almost no questions asked.
Then hit the web and buy a kit to convert it to full auto.
Shop around a little more and pick up a few high capacity magazines.
Put that in the hands of the wrong person and you've got a serious people killer.

And your choice of options is???

Yes...we can regulate the legal market so those with criminal intent can't use legal means to acquire weapons. What will that really do other than force crooks to deal with other crooks?
When our government paid security and protection forces can do more than clean up crime scenes, you should see folks spend more on having fun in our communities than in buying weapons to protect themselves from the dangers they are exposed to in those communities.

You can't regulate peoples behavior.
All we can do is regulate what guns and attachments are sold on the legal market.

Looking at recent statistics
Oct 5, 2017 1:32PM PDT

it would seem that the percentage of US citizens who own guns has been on the decline for some time. However, those who own them rarely stop with one purchase. I have my doubts that those statistics are reliable as I'll guess that a poll would not include those who either want to hide the fact that they own a gun or those who own them illegally. Just how honest would an inner city gang member be when answering the door with a pollster on the porch? One thing that's fairly certain is that these folks kill far more people than do the loonies who spray bullets around in the last moments of their life....but the latter gets most of the press coverage.

There's not much news value when some drug deal goes bad and the buyer or the seller kills the other or some innocent bystander.

Add it all up over a period of time and it comes out to a high number.

is regulate what guns and attachments are sold on the LEGAL market."........

Are you freaking SERIOUS?????????????? What in hell do you think that would accomplish, Bob?

There already is NO regulation for what guns and attachments are sold ILLEGALLY to criminals, and you want to limit the LEGALITY of innocent American citizens from owning firepower that would be at least equal to what a criminal is using to kill those innocents. At the very least, those innocents should be able to fire back just as powerfully. A handgun is NOT going to take down someone who can shoot from farther away and with enough power to shoot through walls.

You refer to these as 'weapons of war'......but you refuse to recognize that it IS a war. It's literally a war of survival, Bob. If the government (say in Chicago) refuses to take down the bad guys and encourages more to show up by declaring themselves to be a sanctuary city, then it is literally up to the citizens to end that war any way they can.

There aren't regulations that state the "criminals" aren't allowed to possess ANY weapons?

I think there are.....

If you feel that you should be legally able to buy a bazooka because some criminal might have one.... fine....... I don't agree with that.

Regulations do not effect the black market....that's a law enforcement issue.

People's hearts could be changed, although no one believes

that's possible.
Unless this happens: "For Jehovah loves justice,
And he will not abandon his loyal ones.
They will always be guarded;
But the descendants of the wicked will be done away with.
The righteous will possess the earth,
And they will live forever on it."
Ps 37:28,29
Don't tell James I posted this; he doesn't like it.

...of these violent criminals, quit releasing them back into the public, and who then wants to spend money on a gun or guns they would prefer to spend elsewhere? When people feel safe, fewer buy guns.

Drugs
Oct 6, 2017 10:22AM PDT

Maybe they should have better control on those prescribing psycho active drugs like Paddock was prescribed. One of the drugs they mentioned I remember a church member who killed himself after it was prescribed for him, something totally out of character for him. Some of those drugs, especially the hypnogogic types, have greatly deletorious effects on people who take them. Big Pharma however manages to keep them in circulation and getting off the hook for what their mental drugs have been doing, the death they've been causing. The investigators on Paddock shooting are looking for a reason or excuse this happened. Maybe they should concentrate more on what drugs he was taking and compare what he did to others who have been on those same drugs, including suicides in addition to murders. Some of those given such drugs never were suicidal nor muderous before taking it, but then when it results in death, it's not the drug they blame for the change, but the person, and Big Pharma gets away with it again.
