Guest Account Original Picture Lost

Nov 29, 2004 6:27AM PST

Just need your help to find the original picture of the guest account - that suitcase with stickers on it. I'm talking about the picture display in the logon window. It was my fault, i changed it once but when I decided to put it back it was no longer in the list. Did not try searching it cause I don't know the file name. Hope this would be easy...

Try this

I found the file on the XP CD in the I386 folder but it's compressed. The file name is guest.bm_ so you need to extract that file. Here's an easy way. Copy that file to a temporary folder that you can easily navigate to from the command prompt. Or, make a temp file in the root directory. Next, copy the compressed file from the CD to that temporary directory. Next, go to Run and type "command" (without quotes). This will bring up the command window. You will now use the "expand" utility to extract the file. If you have put the file in C:\temp, then you would type (again, without quotes) expand C:\temp\guest.bm_ C:\temp\guest.bmp

You should see comfirmation that the file has been expanded. Next, use explorer to check the file image to see if you have the suitcase back. If so, you can copy and paste this to where your other guest image resides and overwrite it. Hope this helps.
