I'd need to know the make and model to see if there's another way.
Most common? We have to udpate the chipset driver package first. Maybe a BIOS here and there. But as always there is some small risk we'll crash the OS. Backups are not optional.
For a while now I havent been able to update the drivers to my GTX860m due to it crashing after install. My computer will say that the GPU is not changable and then it crashes, and now my Nvidia Control Panel says I dont have a Nvidia GPU connected to my display. If I restart my computer it will work again untill I start a game and then it will crash again.
On the older the driver it worked "okay", some games where of course not optimized, but I could run most of them. I have also tried to wipe my computer clean and install everything again, Windows and everything.
Old driver was in the 320s and the new one is 385 something if i remember correct.
I was hoping anyone here could offer any help to what I can do to fix this, or if I have to get a new computer or new hardware.
