GSM signals

I have a GSM phone and sometimes when i leave out of town I dont have no signal. Somebody told me that if you turn your phone off then back on you get a signal .

Sometimes turning the phone on and off solves the problem. Better suggestion is to check with your provider to confirm your phone is updated with the most current roaming database.

Some areas don't ues the 1900mhz band, typically rural areas. There might be GSM coverage in a certain area, but that area might be using the 850mhz band, which than you won't get a signal if your phone only handles 1900. That's what happened to someone I know on T-Mobile. He went to Roselawn Indiana and his phone showed no service. There's GSM coverage there, but it's in the 850 band and his Nokia phone only handles the 1900 band. The 1900 band is used primarily in major cities where a large part of the spectrum is used for different communication needs.
