I have XP Pro, and I was wondering how you can restrict a user other than your self from running certain programs on the computer. I know how to do it in the registry, but I also thought there was a way to do it through GP. Also, is there a way to make it so they can run only certain programs that i specify, like if I say they can only run MS Office, then the rest of the pgms would not run!

Thanks!

In this LINK the recommendation is to try "parental control programs" which can be "circumvented",This may not be what you are seeking.

What are NTFS permissions?

Let's say I used "permissions" to fix this. I could find all .EXE files on the machine and only give rights to certain users (administrator, admin group, etc.) Then only to the other users. That's one way but don't do that until you review (do your homework) on NTFS permissions.

The other way is to make them a limited user.
