Autumn,

The space on your hard drive is running short and that could be part of the problem with scandisk. In order to clean things up, please click on the link below and follow the steps (Parts 1-4) to clean out some of the junk. It asks for another Scandisk and defrag to be done after you do the cleanup. Please attempt these again, per the instructions at the link. If Scandisk won't run, just stop the process.:

Next, because you need to identify the video driver correctly, try this:

RIGHT click on "My Computer", choose "Properties" from the menu, then click on the "Device Manager" tab. When that opens click on the + sign next to the "Display" adapter listing and you will see a specific device listing. Tell us the name of that device. Now click once on that device to highlight it, then click on the "Properties" button at the bottom of the window. When that loads, give us the name again, the "Manufacturer's name". Then click on the "Driver" tab and give us the "Provider" and the "Date".
________

Did you attempt to run Scandisk in DOS, using the instructions I provided at the previous discussion at the link below?? :

Hope this helps and let us know.

OK I did all of the four and removed alot of trash...however upon doing the scan disk again, it was never stated as to whether a thorough or standard was required....I started with the thorough but after two hours decided perhaps it was the standard I should do....I did the standard and it finished saying there were no problems....I then started the disk defrag but it stopped saying part of the c drive was unattainable and that I had to do a thorough scan first....now I am awaiting your advice.....also when you look in the system info history you can see that there was a default moniter listed up until the color issue....on that date there is nothing....perhaps the boy disabled this?.....how does one enable this item again.....still only 16 colors here and spring has arrived.... Sad

Autumn,

When giving us reports of the errors you are receiving, please give us the EXACT error message you see. (I don't think the error was: "The C drive is unattainable.)

At this point, do a thorough Scandisk and see if it will finish. It shouldn't take an extremely long amount of time, so if you're beyond a few hours and it's stopped progressing, then simply stop. And as before, if you can't do it in Windows, follow the procedures at the link I provided earlier to perform Scandisk in DOS. If the Scandisk doesn't perform in DOS, then you may need to get a new hard drive because sectors have been damaged beyond recovery, but lets wait and see what you can do.

In the last post, I also asked you to find the video driver information. Please do that.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes..
