Greyed out features on Samsung TV UN55C7000WFXZA

Nov 25, 2012 2:20AM PST
1. Closed captionIt has a button on the remote. Whenever you press it, it brings a triangle with "feature not available": It is also greyed out in the MENU for this TV.
2. Zoom 1, Zoom 2
The Zoom 1 and Zoom 2 features are also greyed out. You can stretch the image when watching non-HD signal, but the stretch deforms the proportions horizontally, does not "fill the screen". The Wide Zoom would probably work. But it does not.

Any idea why those features are on the menu, but they are not available?

this is a TV purchased and used in the US.

Let's tackle item 1.

CC for HD was not mandated here in the USA. So it's clearly something that may not work but could if you were on antenna a few years ago. Not a happy development for many users.

Hope the short reason helps,
