Green Horizontal 'swirly' Bars on HL-R5067W DLP

Mar 3, 2009 7:47AM PST

I've looked through the forum and cannot find anyone else with this specific problem. My screen recently started showing green horizontal bars across the screen... not solid, they actually look somewhat like oily water you might see on the streets... they show up sharpest across the light areas of the screen (when across someone's face it looks like some sort of tribal tattoo).

I've tried all inputs, devices and resolutions... it eventually shows up on all. I do have some photos, but cannot see how to post an image here. Here is a link to another forum that shows a very similar issue to what I am having... only my 'bars' are only green.. none of the purple, etc.

Any ideas on what this might be are appreciated!

Digital board
Mar 5, 2009 11:13AM PST

jfallen,

According to one of our specialists, it appears that it may be a digital board that has gone bad, or one of the color processors is malfunctioning. I don't have any specific part numbers, but that's what's going on. They recommended a tech inspection and likely a board replacement. Which exact one, I'm not able to pinpoint without looking into the actual television.

I wish I had a more definite answer, but diagnosing even with picture descriptions and symptoms is pretty difficult to do.

Thanks for the help! I know it's virtually impossible to diagnose a problem like this without being there to test the tv. I've spoken to our local Samsung repair people here in Dallas (NISI) and they came up with the same possibilities.

Thanks again!
