Question

Green flashing screen problem for Samsung Galaxy S5

Apr 15, 2017 8:58AM PDT

This situation usually occurs to me when I wake up after not having used by phone for eight or so hours. I try to turn it on and view my notifications by pressing the power or home button and my screen quickly shows a green version of my home screen and then turns black. I know it is still on at this point because pressing the power button does not flash the screen green again. My homemade solution to fix this is taking out the battery then turning it on, however, if I leave the phone off for a few minutes then the same situation will occur so I usually have to take the battery out at least three times. I have tried starting it in Safe Mode and wiping the cache partition, is there anything I can do other than factory resetting to save my phone at this point?

Answer
I'd try a new battery

Then check my warranty or cell plan to see if they will swap the phone.

Here, in the USA and Canada I do not see this maker repairing the phone. They exchange it.

Thanks. I will check my warranty and try a different battery,y but I think that the battery is not the fault because taking out the battery is usually just a way for me to power it off.

What else can you remove?

Can you test without a SD Card or SIM? There are so few user serviceable parts that I always swap what I can before I call it dead. Remember I see you already did the usual resets.

Sorry I missed a thing.

You have yet to factory reset. That's a common fix for many phones.

Before you do that you try a brutal uninstall of all apps that you can. Be brutal. Remove them one by one until the issue is fixed or not.
