Green box in taskbar

Feb 15, 2004 10:39AM PST

I have recently (last week) installed XP, I had ME. I am getting an error occasionaly when trying to open certain programs, PowerPoint, kids games, Studio * video software, ..... I did not have these errors in the previous few days. Here is what it says: The program is not responding, Ctrl, Alt Del doesn't even get you out once it gets to this point. I have to reboot by holding down the power button. The green boxes appear in the lower right hand corner, I have seen as many as 9 at one time.

Has anyone ever had this happen before? What should I do to fix it?

Thanks --

It appears that you've upgraded from ME to XP.

The best way to install XP is a clean install.
To do this you'll have to back up your files and boot with the XP CD.

The green boxes are instances of the Windows Task Manager when you press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

Was this a clean install or did the tech you took your computer to do a XP upgrade over Win ME?

ctrl alt delete dose some thing a litle diffent in xp

the err program not respondeing err should have a button end task now that should stop the need for hard reboot but check with the tech

you should keep a back up to use as a last resort norton ghost works well but it takes geting used to after about 5cdrs you should get the hang of it
