Graphics card upgrade in slimine desktop??

by jdcountryboy / December 3, 2007 5:29 AM PST

I am needing to put another graphics card in my Hp pavilion slimline 3120. I dont need anything extreme, just using it as an extended desktop for powerpoints and dvd's on a projector. Is there a "half size" card out there that will fit this tower. It has a PCI express slot open. I read in another forum that a guy put a Nvidea 8400 GTX in his and he just "rigged" the mount so it would fit in the case. There is a TV tuner already in one of the slots so i know they make expansions half sized, I just need to find a "half sized" graphics card or just buy a regular one and cut the mount a little so it'l fit in the case. Any suggestions??

thanks

geforce 7200gs, $42 before $10 rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150255

if your card mounts in riser, you shouldn't to do any mods. if it mounts directly into the mobo, you can remove the card's back panel by unscrewing the dvi and vga ports. with a little creative use of a dremel you could fashion a vga port in the adjacent slots cover.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
