Question

Graphics card making sporatic noises

Jan 6, 2015 7:32AM PST

I have a dell XPS 630i that has an NVIDIA 8800 GT. Normally when gaming, the GPU fan will spin up to full power. I recently installed the NVIDIA tool with ESA support. I then turned off the chassis lights (why waste power?) Today, while playing my game, instead of spinning up, the graphics card fan started spinning up sporadically, I can best compare it to a car engine revving. It will spin fast for about a second, and then spin down for about three seconds, Spin up, Spin down. I do not know if it will make a difference, but I did turn the case lights back on. I have not tested what the card does now, but I do not think that anything would have changed since I changed the lights back on (about ten minutes) Has anyone had this problem, or does anyone have a solution
