Graphics card help.....

I had an nvidea graphics card in my pc, it was a geforce 5500, it took it out and replaced it with the ATI Radeon 9800 pro, I wasn't real impressed with the graphics, so I went to reinstall the old graphics card and now I'm having all kinds of problems where the pc boots up but when it gets to a certain poing the screen is black...
Any ideas??
