Though I'm not much of an ATI fan the All In Wonder would be fine for what you want. The GPU side of the card would give you better graphics when it comes to playing and editing video while the TV tuner would let you record programs and video from other sources, such as your VCR. Thus, it would be an all-around good option.
After installing it it would override your integrated graphics, freeing the reserved RAM for other system processes. They cannot be used in conjunction, but considering the card and intended use that may actually benefit you more than if it could/did. (The extra RAM would help more than the extra graphical power.)
Hope this helps,
John
System: Gateway 835 GM (Windows media center, 2.8GHz dual core processor, 1 GB RAM, 250 GB HD, integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics processor)
I want to be able to watch, record, and output video from my computer. Also, my wife wants to be able to edit video (mostly digital home videos). No high-end gaming. I have been looking at the ATI All-In-Wonder products (based on the 1900 and 1300 chips). I have a PCI Express x16 slot on the motherboard to take advantage of.
Should I be looking at these multimedia cards that have the GPU and Tuners, or just tuners? Obviously there are the price differences, but I would be willing to pay more for sharper/quicker graphics.
Also, if I do get a multimedia card, will the new GPU run in conjunction with the integrated graphics (meaning much quicker graphics) or will the new GPU override the integrated stuff?
Sorry for the long post, but hopefully the questions are clear. thanks.
