Graphics card for Dell 2405FPW?

Feb 3, 2006 8:03PM PST

I just ordered a Dell 2405FPW 24" LCD display - a friend has one and it's a beaut: huge, bright, and sharp as a tack, and Dell has a good deal going on it.

I'm looking for a graphics card with DVI-D output to support the display's 1920x1200 resolution and, after surveying the landscape, I'm totally befuddled about nVidia vs ATI, and the plethora of different models, chipsets, prices, etc. I'm not a gamer Sad I just want the display for general use, PhotoShop/PaintShopPro picture editing, and maybe video editing (Avid XPress), etc. I'm looking for something that's *quiet* - I see a number of posts that bemoan noisy fans on many high-end cards.

Any recommendations? My motherboard is an Intel D865GBF, and has an AGP 8X slot that's free, besides PCI slots. Price? do I need to spend more than 200 bucks? Thanks for replies.
