Question

Graphical glitch

Jul 15, 2017 8:39AM PDT

I have been recently getting this graphical glitch where (as the pictures show) make the pc blue screen or just become unusable. I have done the whole reinstall and update drivers and windows plus I have gone into safe mode and check my windows. From there it seemed nothing was wrong if you need any more information please let me know -photo links https://ibb.co/g7bZXv

Failing video cards or a driver issue. If this is the same OS and drivers you used for years then the card is suspect along with heat.

Are you performing the monthly or so canned air cleaning of vents and heatsinks? (depends on make, model!)

If not try a good cleaning and check that all fans are operational.

I do clean once a month with pressured air and I'm careful of not putting any stress on the components when cleaning. It may be that I need a new card due to it being 3-4 years old. It is a GTX 660. Thank you for the response I will let you know the outcome if it is the cards fault

Tell a little more.

Is this one of those PCs with onboard video? Why I ask is when I see this issue I can unplug the old GPU and use the onboard for a test.

There's also another issue at 3-4 years old and that is aging power supplies. This issue could be PSU related too since PSUs lose capacity over time. We want to see a single rail PSU with 50% or more capacity than the rig calls for.

In other words, what is this PC made of?

Sorry I have not checked the forums until today. The graphics card was the issue and have upgraded to a new one. So far it has been running smoothly with no issues. Thank you again.
