what's the difference between the memory and the dedicated memory?

Some motherboards have an "on board" video card, it's built into the mother board. It will share the RAM installed. Most video cards have memory built onto them. They do not share the RAM installed for the motherboard.

Depends on needs.

1. Battery time? Shared seems to always win.
2. Gaming? Either dedicated or that new system with some dedicated wins.

You'll have to set your goals first.
